Black Onyx ranks in the top 10% for 10 individual EBV’s and the Angus Breeding Low Feed Cost selection Index.
Black Onyx quickly became one of the first-choice heifer sires for Angus breeders across the country. The Sire has proven Calving Ease, with his birth weight and gestational length being in the top 7% of the breed at 98% accuracy.
His Growth is top 5% of the breed for 200 days and top 3% for 400 day with 97% accuracy and 600 day is top 2% of the breed at 96% accuracy.
Black Onyx milk is top 1% of the breed at 92% accuracy. We have used this sire here at Benaroon extensively in sexed female semen to improve overall milk in the herd.

Our base heifers were bred with Burenda Cobber. He had moderate calving ease and was a very long deep bodied bull with plenty of thickness and grew to a very large mature bull weighing over 1100kg. These traits displayed through in his progeny. He was bred with the original heifers and the best progeny selected for breeding with our first AI Sire Hoover Dam.
